 The East African Local Governments Association (EALGA) is an Umbrella Organisation of National Associations of Local Governments Authorities in Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. The four National Associations, namely ALAT, ALGAK, ULGA and RALGA came together on 10th May, 2005, to form EALGA. This occasion was graced by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museverni, President of the Republic of Uganda. In 2008 ABELO of Burundi was born and joined EALGA in April 2009.
The key objectives for the formation of EALGA are to be found in the constitution and some of these have been highlighted in this brief.
EALGA is currently housed at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), Arusha, Tanzania.
